SIFN Workshop 2008 IF Policy & Water Management
The National Fish Habitat Board and SARP have identified instream flow and water quantity as a top priority issue facing the nation's fisheries management agencies. Recognizing that instream flow policies are determined and implemented on a state-by-state basis. The first annual SIFN Workshop, June 23-24, 2008 in Atlanta, was planned to help individuals in the southeastern U.S. by regional collaboration. The objectives of this first workshop were (1) to bring state teams together to initiate and develop working relationships; (2) to present the scientific basis of instream flow policy; (3) to share instream flow policy-related tools and resources that are specific to state needs; and (4) to build a network among southern states to support and build on past experiences.
